NTEU Endorses University of Melbourne EBA Proposal

8 February 2024

At a meeting of more than 640 NTEU University of Melbourne branch members over 70% of attendees voted to endorse the proposed negotiated bargaining agreement circulated on 8 December 2023.

Key wins:

  • a pay deal that keeps our pay packets in the top 3 of uni’s in Australia

  • a 29% increase in the University’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment target

  • a clear pathway for potentially more than a thousand of our workmates to move to secure work from casual contracts

  • parental leave of up to 38 weeks available from the first day of employment

  • a minimum research allocation for all new continuing academic positions

  • 30 days of gender affirmation leave for ALL staff members

Have a look at the summary and full proposals for all of the details.

Over the coming weeks the branch will take time to reflect on our campaign. We will be providing a space for any member that’s interested to have your say on what we did right, what we did wrong and what we could have done better as we start thinking about our next campaigns.

University management will now begin their process for an all-staff endorsement vote. You'll hear more about that process directly from them.

In solidarity,

David Gonzalez
