Solidarity with striking Dairy Farmers

We, the members of the University of Melbourne branch of the NTEU, express our solidarity with the dairy workers of the United Workers Union and Transport Workers Union currently taking industrial action in Victoria in order to fight for fairer wages. Dairy transport workers are taking a 48-hour strike, the longest dairy strike in living memory, with the potential for future action if major employers do not meaningfully engage with their demands. In their own words, “Workers are sick and tired of being milked for all they’re worth by big dairy companies.” We, the NTEU branch of Melbourne University, recognise our shared struggle for fair wages and decent working conditions in times of financial struggle and soaring profits, and stand with the United Workers Union and Transport Workers Union as they work towards a better future.
