We learned yesterday that University of Melbourne management will miss another deadline on sharing a revised Enterprise Agreement proposal with the branch. They leave us with no choice but to continue with our plan for a half-day strike.

Kicking the Can

University management first said they would have a new EBA proposal for the branch bargaining team to review in March, then April, and are now indicating that they won’t have a proposal to share until May.

The Union Has a Plan, The University Has None

As it stands, management has not agreed to NTEU members’ major claims, including:

We Can’t Wait Any Longer

With industrial action already underway across the University of Melbourne, the branch has called a half-day work stoppage for 3 May 2023 from 11am – 3pm for all NTEU University of Melbourne members.

Joint University Work Stoppage Meeting at Trades Hall

Our 3 May strike coincides with industrial action taking place at universities across Victoria. After a rally on the Parkville campus, we will join with comrades from other Victorian unis at Trades Hall in Carlton for a Stop Work Meeting and rally.

Draft Schedule for Strike Day

We will send more details as we get closer to 3 May, but we expect to stop work at 11am and  meet on the Parkville Campus, then march to the 888 Monument in front of Trades Hall where we will meet up with members and supporters from other unis around midday.

It’s Not Too Late to Have Workmates Join

Remember, only NTEU members are covered under this protected industrial action. Encourage your union-curious workmates to sign up at www.nteu.au/join
